COP25: BPI Committing to “Net Zero by 2030”

BPI has joined the list of over 500 companies that are “committing to accelerate the reduction of their greenhouse gas emissions to reach a 1.5 degree trajectory leading to net zero by the year 2030—20 years ahead of the 2050 targets set in the Paris Agreement.”

As business owners and leaders, we have an obligation to do what’s right for our community and the environment. It is a privilege to operate a business, and as a Certified B corporation, we must set the example for others to follow. Our businesses cannot be successful when our workers, customers and planet are suffering.

This effort is the most accelerated climate action effort by a constituency of businesses in the world. These companies are part of the global community of Certified B Corporations, businesses that “meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and legal accountability.”

The Net Zero by 2030 commitment applies to our Scope 1, Scope 2, and most relevant Scope 3 emissions. It can be achieved by reducing emissions wherever possible and using verified offsets, with a focus on carbon removal projects, to balance emissions that cannot be eliminated.

Update 7/21/23: The Net Zero by 2030 initiative has been retired, and BPI will be now going with the SME Climate Hub commitment to:

  • Halve our greenhouse gas emissions before 2030
  • Achieve net zero emissions before 2050
  • Disclose our progress on a yearly basis

We still plan to achieve net zero by 2030.
